The AIC Journal is no longer included in NZSA membership.

Following a review of the rising cost of our AIC Journal subscription and how we best invest in member benefits, the NZSA has decided to end its subscription to the AIC Journal. The cost of the journal has increased significantly in recent years, even after moving to a digital-only subscription.

You can continue to access the journal via ANZCA’s library under ‘key medical journals’: https://libguides.anzca.edu.au/journals.

We will be in touch directly with members who have paid extra for access to the Journal in 2026.

Ending this subscription allows the Society to direct resources towards initiatives that deliver greater value to members. This includes the development of the patient education resources at myanaesthesia.nz, private practice support such as the RVG and Commerce Act information, Te reo Māori learning resources and Te Puna Kairehu. To expand our CPD offerings, such as the Aotearoa NZ Anaesthesia ASM and Combined Scientific Congress, to the new trainee meeting, Te Aka Tauwhiro, this November, and a new member-exclusive webinar series.

Supporting research and provision of safe anaesthesia remains a priority. Alongside our involvement in WebAIRS, ANZAEC and ACE, sponsorship of prizes at NZSA-hosted events and the NZ Annual Registrars Meeting, and support for the BWT Ritchie and GHC Trainee scholarships, we are exploring additional ways to support research in Aotearoa and will share further updates as these develop.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Society
